About the Artist

Lesley’s current work reflects the beauty and diversity of the Australian landscape. By using gesso, acrylic paint and oil glaze on canvas she creates a textured surface for abstract landscapes and cityscapes. She is continually fascinated by the Australian landscape where there are deserts, rainforests, snow, beautiful beaches and lush planes altogether in the same place. Lesley loves the strong colours and light of the Australian landscape and attempts to understand the role of colour in nature and our response to it in her paintings. She sometimes uses line work in the form of bridges, ramps and walls to echo the co-existence of man and nature.
